2.3 How to enhance curiosity and willingness to learn
2.3.1 Introduction

The 0 to 6 years old period is very important in a child’s development as this is when they absorb a lot of information from the environment. This is when they learn, much easier, a foreign language, for example. Parents’ role during this time is to filter the information from the environment, whilst at the same time, facilitate as many learning opportunities as possible. New environments and social interaction help children develop their language because they are exposed to situations where they practise they skills and knowledge, especially since everyone comes with a different set of skills and knowledge and everyone learns differently.

Children as naturally drawn towards playing outdoors and there are many advantages to this: they explore nature, they develop their physical abilities and coordination and increase their self-esteem. Active outdoor play makes children more flexible and it helps them develop their motor skills.
