Effective use of ICT

2.1 The learning potential of Audiovisuals
2.1.2 Enhancing Learning process through Audio aids

The audio resources in preschool classes are mainly songs or narrated stories. The oral tradition in every culture comprises a series of songs and stories. Before writing, humans transmitted knowledge orally. The music is easy to remember because of the melody, the rhythm and the rhyme. Stories are also remembered because they have a narrative. Using music or stories in school is not new, but we can do it easier with new technologies and the use of Internet.

Internet is full of videos and audios for every topic we need. And we can do new songs or stories for teaching concepts, skills or transversal values. In order to make new songs, we can use an on-line tool like Online Sequencer

This web allows us to compose and share or download the music. It doesn’t use classical notation, it use a graphical keyboard simulator. It’s so easy that we can use it with kids in class. We can let them to use it, play with it and explore the different sounds, durations or pitch of the notes.

Online Resource

Once we have the audio, we can mix it with voice and do lots of things with tools like Audacity. We can record the students with the microphone of the computer.

If we need to share our own audios to other partners, we can use online sites like Jamendo or Ivoox

Most of the people use Youtube for all, but if we only need mp3 music, these are better alternatives.
