Tale summary
From “Tirreno” (newspaper of Livorno) Tuesday 16 December 1952Last night during a terrible storm a ship anchored in front of accademia navale was slammed to the Regina rock. Because of the wind at 150 km the bow of the ship hit the rocks 30 mt away from the pier. There was a terrible shipwreck but the crew was saved. Livorno: there was poverty at that time but the American ship gave away to Livorno a Christmas with very big turkeys. These turkeys were intended for American families but the wind pushed them from the sea along a ditch to the houses near the stadium. We took 50 turkeys but there wasn't the fridge so we cooked them all day to conserve with lard. In these time we ate chicken only in Christmas.
