Innovative pedagogical approaches

1.1 Improving general knowledge for the early childhood
1.1.2 Receptive and Expressive Communication

The development of speech and the correct acquisition of language is a permanent concern of the teaching staff. Because of the luggage that children acquire during their kindergarten, their speech becomes clearer, more correct, they acquire grammatical structures that they use in various contexts, and the vocabulary is enriched both in quantitative and qualitative terms. As a result, emphasis is placed on communication activities, on free dialogue, on the formation of correct and orderly expression of ideas and thoughts, on the proper appropriation of the grammatical structures of the language. In order to achieve this goal of educating the verbal behavior of preschoolers, it is imperative that the instructive-educational process be so organized as to lead to their active involvement, verbally and mentally.

The development of communication and enrichment of the vocabulary can be achieved through various methods and procedures. Observation leads, for example, to the activation and enrichment of the vocabulary being closely related to communication. Through the observation, the preschooler takes direct contact with actual objects around him, forms correct representations about the objects and phenomena of the surrounding world, establishes the relationships in which they are, correlates the previously learned knowledge with the new contents, verbalizes the results of the observation and acquires a specific terminology. Stories contribute to broadening children's horizons, developing mental processes, but especially language in all its aspects; listening to stories and fairy tales, they meet new expressions, words that become a good of theirs. The stories are meant to make them familiar with the structure of the language, the richness of the grammatical forms, the beauty and the expressivity of the language, thus contributing to the development of language as well as to thinking.

Online Resource

For a better understanding of language development in children, we recommend the following online resources:

When working with younger children, under 3 years of age, the following language lesson in three steps is recommended, specific to the Montessori pedagogy. The proper development of the pre-schooler language in all its aspects: lexical, grammatical and phonetic, is important both to ensure his proper integration into school, but also to the formation of a harmonious personality.
