Effective use of ICT

2.1 The learning potential of Audiovisuals
2.1.4 Creativity and Imagination through images

Before, we have talked about using videos to teach something. But we can also recommend making videos to teach something. Depends of the level, students can do better videos or do them without help. But it’s relatively easy nowadays doing a video with all ages students.

In pre-school classes we have to do almost everything. But we can let the kids to select the topic, guide them to invent a plot and assay with them. We don’t need a special camera, a medium smartphone and a big memory card is more than sufficient for recording good quality images (remember to record horizontally).

Children can benefit from creating works of art. Parents and teachers should encourage children to make their little art. Creative activities help children concentrate, develop their self-respect, imagination, creativity and enhance their cognitive potential. It works with all arts, and the cinema is the most complete art. Cinema includes all other disciplines like painting music, literature or acting. We can focus on one of this. For example, the children can make drawings and then we can animate them and put the music and dialogs. Or they can do everything for separate: First write the script,  drawing the images, stop motion, music (as seen before), dubbing or acting. It could be a whole course project.

Online Resource

One of the benefits of the Internet is the possibility of publish our videos. Kids enjoy sharing them with their parents and friends. There are many options. The most evident is Youtube or Vimeo, but there would be problems of privacity. We can also recommend using a private cloud and sharing links with the parents. For example: Owncloud
