2.2 How to create pre-school pupils-centered educational contents
2.2.2 Tips and Tricks for a good classroom atmosphere

Making videos with children is always a special situation and it must be fun for them. It’s difficult to maintain the attention and the working atmosphere. Makin videos, in general, is a hard and long work. You must repeat lots of times and it take lots of time to manage the recordings and assembly them. Children wants immediate results and this is very difficult.

Here are some tips:

What to do

What not to do

Show them earlier works of other children.

Start the video without any example.

Talk about the final result but manage the time so they can have intermediate results every day.

Talk about the final result and show them only at the end.

Let them take home the drawing after you have digitized it. (If you are making a stop motion with it.)

Store the drawings after digitized.

Let and guide them to decide about the plot, characters, music...

Say them the plot, the characters and the music you are going to use.

Make and show some intermediate montage in order to maintain attention.

Show only the final result.

Ask the parents to do a part at home and send it. They can show to the classroom toys or pets.

Don’t talk to the parents about the project.

Make a storyboard with their drawings in the wall of the classroom.

Ask them for separate drawings without a clear sequence.

Modify the plot or storyboard when it’s necessary.

Maintain a fixed script and don’t modify anything.
