Education must involve properly trained and motivated teachers, a pleasant school environment, parental encouragement and community involvement. This approach is the key to guarantee quality to the whole school system (Indicazioni Nazionali per il Curricolo, 2012). A school which is  based on  meetings and on mutual exchanges is able  to:

• encourage an active involvement of families;
• send a message about the importance of cultures;
• create  systems which can  facilitate the inclusion of foreign children with special educational needs;
• promote the language of origin and other cultures;
• be open to the  emotional world and  understand the importance of being together even with individual differences;
• need for adequate and quality education for everybody. Education and care are widely accessible, inclusive and of high quality (Agenda 2030 Indicazioni nazionali e nuovi scenari).

Immigrant families can have two different approaches towards  the school: either they can be  afraid of it or, on the other hand, they can  emphasize the school system . Teachers should avoid to:

•  make them lose their cultural roots;
•  upset  traditional roles inside the family;
•  make them lose their original language;
•  underestimate the importance of traditional food that can be used as a mean to develop a shared sense   of belonging.
