Tale summary
It‘s a fairy-tale about kitty‘s adventures in the garden, when the leaf of cabbage fell on his tail. It is about the animals (rabbit, vixen, wolf and bear), he met in the woods while thinking that „sky falls“. However, as every fairy-tale it finished happily. The cleverest bear explained that rabbit was afraid only of a leaf.
Educational potential / Learning Outcomes
„Fear has magnifying eyes.“ – This is how the contemplation of this fairy-tale could sound like. It is a fairy-tale that teaches about respect and understanding, which should be present among people in any situation. What is more, communication between parents and cooperation with the members of community is also very important.
Full Plot
Once upon a time, kitty went outside to play. He was crawling around in the cabbage garden until cabbage’s leaf fell on his tail. Kitty got scared and thought: „The sky is falling for sure“.
Runs, kicks as much as hard as he can and out of nowhere meets rabbit.
„Rabbit, run away, the sky is falling! “
„Who did tell you that? “
„It fell on my tail! “
Rabbit got scared and ran along with kitty. Shortly after they meet vixen.
„Vixen, run away, the sky is falling! “
„Who did tell you that? “
„Kitty. “
„Kitty, who did tell you that? “
„It fell on my tail! “
Vixen also got scared and ran along with kitty and rabbit. They meet wolf.
„Wolf, run away, the sky is falling! “
„Who did tell you that? “
„Rabbit. “
„Rabbit, who did tell you that? “
„Kitty. “
„Kitty, who did tell you that? “
„It fell on my tail! “
And now four of them are running. As they meet bear, wolf starts screaming:
“Bear, run away, the sky is falling!”
“Who did tell you that?”
“Vixen.”
“Vixen, who did tell you that?”
“Rabbit.”
“Rabbit, who did tell you that?”
“Kitty.”
“Kitty who did tell you that?”
“It fell on my tail!”
“Tell me how it happened”, asked bear.
“While I was crawling around in the cabbage garden it fell on my tail!”
“Was it big?”
“As big as rooster’s wing.”
“What a little fool”, told bear, “it was only cabbage’s leaf, go back home”.
“Maybe you are right”, agreed kitty, “now we can come back home without fear”.
And everyone returned home.
One Lesson Plan
It was the theme of the week „I am telling a fairy-tale“. From all fairy-tales, the fairy-tale “Sky falls” left the biggest impression for 2-3 years old children. While playing children “became” the animals from a fairy-tale, as they were imitating characters’ gait and intonation. Children were also drawing the characters of a fairy-tale and parents enthusiastically approved that idea. What is more, as it was autumn, children got to know the vegetable - cabbage and fixed the qualities of this time of the year – falling colourful leaves. With the help of artistic tools, children’s abilities were disclosed.

EN This fairy-tale is multicultural and perhaps most of the teachers and parents read it for kids in several countries. But this fairy-tale brought parents to implementation of this story (the play). These parents where very happy and children, who parents did not participate in this play, asked if their parents could come for next play. The example and inclusion to activities of parents is very important for kids, that is really good way for them to learn from and strengthen their self-confidence.
