Tale summary
The Polovragi Cave is said to have been the home of none other than Zalmoxis, the almighty god of the Dacians. The name of the cave derives from a healing plant which grows near the cave. One day, the god decided to leave his cave, which often sheltered the Dacians from the invaders, and go to the top of the mountain to see his country in its entirety. Upon returning home, he fell and hurt himself. Decebal, the last ruler of the Dacians, was told to harvest some of the healing plants and bring them to the hurt god. Three years later, everyone was utterly amazed when the god returned, healthy and healed.
