Tale summary
The Church in the Vineyard (Bisericuța dintre Vii) is said to have been built in the 1600s by a voivode grateful for finding his wife alive and unharmed. The Tatars had invaded the city and the voivode's wife, scared, ran and hid in a nearby forest, where the present-day Botanical Garden in Iași is located. The voivode defeated the Tatars in battle, then he went to look for his wife and found her alive and well. In the place where he found her - in an old tree's hollow - he had the old tree cut and a church built.
