Cuenta la leyenda que el rey Jaime I fue a inaugurar el Nuevo Canal de Guadassuar. Los habitantes organizaron una gran celebración para su llegada. Como muchos hombres estaban en la guerra, el Rey permitió a sus soldados bailar con las mujeres solteras del lugar. La celebración de este baile aún se preserva hoy en día y es uno de los eventos favoritos de los habitantes de Guadassuar, donde se visten con preciosos trajes y bailan sus tradicionales “danses”.
