Tale summary
The story says that, once upon a time, a very beautiful princess decided to avoid worldly temptations by becoming a shepherd and living on the Ceahlău mountain. She was courted by many young, brave men, but she turned them all down. The last man to court her was none other than Traian, the first Roman emperor of Dacia. He had a different approach, however, and after a chase which lasted three days and three nights, he finally caught up to the beautiful princess and married her. The dowry was significant - the princess' sheepfold, but, more importantly, the entire country which surrounded the Ceahlău mountain (the present-day Romania).
